A Vietnam veteran, Steven became interested in the field of Prosthetics and Orthotics during his time spent working at a transitional hospital for the wounded.  He graduated from the University of Washington in 1975 with a degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics.  He then moved to Anchorage, Alaska and founded Northern Orthopedics in 1978, building its reputation and expanding the company to three locations in Southcentral Alaska.  A widely-respected clinician, he has served for many years as a national board examiner in Prosthetics and Orthotics.
Steven specializes in upper extremity myo-electric prostheses, lower extremity computerized knees and all areas of advanced prosthetic componentry.  He also provides a variety of orthotic treatment, ranging from deformational plagiocephaly of the skull to the particulars of custom orthotic needs of the lower extremities and the spine, such as scoliosis.

Gretchen

Gretchen graduated with a degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics from the University of Washington in 2008.  She spent the next four years working in Phoenix, Arizona with a focus on pediatrics where she worked regularly with the Phoenix Children’s Hospital.  She joined the Northern Orthopedics, Inc. family in 2012.
Gretchen is adept in the treatment of head deformities including, but not limited to, deformational plagiocephaly and post-operative scaphocephaly; she also specializes in the treatment of pectus carinatum, scoliosis and cerebral palsy among other conditions.  She continues to stay current on new technological developments while maintaining the relationships valued by traditional practice.  She enjoys treating patients of all ages but has a special appreciation for working with children.

Caitlin

Caitlin received a Bachelor's Degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from the University of Idaho in 2013.  When she was introduced to the field of prosthetics and orthotics, she decided it was the right fit for her as it provided the ability to care for others and problem solve.  In 2014, she obtained a Master's Degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where she also completed both of her orthotic and prosthetic residencies.  Caitlin enjoys combining the patient's perspective and lifestyle with her knowledge of prosthetics and orthotics in order to provide the tools necessary to regain mobility.

She looks forward to having new Alaskan adventures with her husband, Daniel, and their dog, Colt.

 

Seth Eric

Eric received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Texas Tech University in 2001 before serving active duty in the United States Navy.  After multiple deployments and a successful career, Eric made the decision to leave the service and pursue the field of Orthotics and Prosthetics. He attended Northwestern University's Orthotic program in 2008 followed by a residency at MK Orthotics and Prosthetics in San Antonio, TX.  When his residency was completed in 2010, he took a position at West Texas Rehabilitation Center (WTRC) where he spent the next 9 years working in a not-for-profit environment.  In 2012, Eric completed Northwestern University's Prosthetic Program.  After fulfilling his Prosthetic residency requirements at WTRC, he became Director of the Orthotics and Prosthetics Department in 2015, serving in both an administrative role as well as lead practitioner.  Eric enjoys treating all patients but has a special connection with the military.  He is an avid outdoorsman and is enjoying all the resources Alaska has to offer.

Mel

Mel became a below the knee amputee in 1970 and seven short years later started working as a prosthetic and orthotic techician. Mel came to Alaska to work at Northern Orthopedics in 1981 and has been here ever since. Mel likes to spend his free time outdoors hiking, fishing, boating, and four wheeling. Mel calls Palmer, Alaska his home, but enjoys all of Alaska.

Paul

Paul started his prosthetic-orthotic career in Southern California, beginning work as a lab assistant in 1994.  He went on to become a Certified Techician of Prosthetics and Orthotics in 1998 before moving to Alaska in 2002 to work at Northern Orthopedics.  Paul is a proud grandfather and he spends his free time fishing, ATVing, spending time with family and playing with his dog.  

Marsha

Marsha Foy

Marsha grew up in San Francisco but she and her husband Steven moved their young family to Alaska in 1975.  Not long later, in 1978, Marsha established Northern Orthopedics and is still the owner today, though she refers jokingly to herself often as the “head gofer.”  Despite more than forty years of hard work in an ever-changing field, she remains driven in the pursuit of providing excellent patient care and improving the lives of those in her Alaskan community.  Outside of work, Marsha loves spending time with extended family as well as volunteering to care for fellow parishioners in need.

Sean

Sean Foy

Born in Seattle, Sean moved with his family to Alaska in 1975 and joined the Foy family business (Northern Orthopedics) in 2000.  With two decades of hands-on experience, he is well-versed in all the aspects of this family-run prosthetics and orthotics company.  In addition to submitting claims to insurance companies on behalf of patients, Sean endeavors to ensure that all staff are consistent in their codes, documentation, and interpersonal interactions so that patients are provided with the highest quality care and service.  In his free time, he enjoys relaxing by playing video games as well as reading science fiction and fantasy books.

Meagan

Meagan moved from her hometown of Juneau to Anchorage in 2003 to attend college.  While studying at UAA, she met her future husband, Sam.  Today, they keep busy (fueled by coffee) with their four children, ages 1 to 9, and all the activities of a bustling home, including baking and various projects.  Outside the home, Meagan has been integral to the success of Northern Orthopedics since she joined the company in 2007.

A graduate of Sitka High, Dawn has lived in and out of Alaska for the past 30 years.  She has an Associate’s Degree in Medical Office Administration and became a Nationally Certified Medical Assistant in 2011.  Working in the O & P field for the past 23 years (nine of which were as an O &P technician), Dawn has been part of the family at Northern Orthopedics for 14 years and counting.  Outside of work, Dawn loves the great outdoors and spends her time white water rafting, hiking, kayaking, and fishing.  She often rides an ATV and goes camping in order to “hunt” with her camera: photography is her passion.

Tarah is a lifelong Alaskan who loves to spend time outdoors camping, four-wheeling, and going for walks in the beautiful nature of Alaska with family and friends.  Tarah's greatest passions are traveling and driving fast cars.  (Little-known fact: Tarah is a gearhead.)

Tarah joined Northern Orthopedics in 2008 where she enjoys the opportunity to learn and practice new skills.

Tarah and her husband reside in Palmer, where she never tires of the panoramic mountain views.

Aimee

Born and raised in Alaska (with a few years in California), Aimee sold her first freelance travel story to a local paper while still in high school.  She went on to study photojournalism in college and is passionate about capturing her experiences through photography and writing.  She may not have achieved her childhood dream of becoming the next female Indiana Jones (yet) but she has plenty of stories to share about her extensive travels, from having a camera broken by a soldier at a remote military base in China to coming face-to-face with bears while exploring the Alaskan wilderness.

Aimee has maintained her insatiable curiosity since coming to work at Northern Orthopedics in 2010 and is an avid reader, usually reading several books at the same time, and she enjoys getting great book recommendations from patients.

Noelle

Noelle was born and raised in Hawaii before spending a number of years living in California.  Then, in 2016, she decided to start somewhere new and exciting: she moved to Alaska, where she joined Northern Orthopedics that Fall.  She always has a big smile for puppies and a high-five for children.  Noelle enjoys baking, crafting, and Marvel Comics.
